I know Breastfeeding can be difficult and sometimes not all that "attractive". Between the bulky nursing bras, leaking boobs and whipping it out in front of strangers, it can get a little weird. I breastfed Benjamin until he was 14 months, and let me tell you, never once did I feel sexy. I had the ugly bras, the loose shirts and the stinky soaked clothes. So this time around, I was determined to change all that! So I'm here to share with you, how to Breastfeed like a BABE!
First, get a cute bra! You don't have to wear the ones that are meant for breastfeeding. You can, but i hate how bulky they are and the plastic clips. No thanks. Get a comfy, stretchy sports bra or a bralette that you can simply just pull down! My two favorites are from Victoria's secret. I honestly can't wear regular bras anymore. Here is a photo of the two I have. I have multiple colors and switch off between them all.
Priced at $19.95 and $24.95, With these bras you can still wear stylish shirts over them, and even if they show, they're cute! Get some matching panties, shave your legs and feel sexy, damnit!
Next, make sure you ALWAYS have nursing pads. They have disposable or reusable. Keep some in your purse, always have a ton at home and always, I repeat, always have them in your bra. When you're feeding, your milk will drop and you WILL spray everywhere. If those bad boys aren't tucked in your bra, you will end up soaked. You can buy these at target, babies r us & Amazon. These also fit right in with the sexy bras you'll be buying ;)
Alright, next. I know breastfeeding in public can be a pain. Throwing a big jacket over you both or trying to hide it all under a blanket that keeps sliding off is quite the pain in the ass. Some are okay with showing it all, but I try to be a little more decrete. If your like me, I got you covered! Literally. These breastfeeding/ scarves are the bomb. You can wear it around your neck as a scarf and simply slide it over you both in time of need. Or just have it folded up in your purse, it's super thin and light weight, and pull it out when you're ready to use it! We got ours from www.kismetlovecollection.com. They have a ton of different styles and great prices! This one here is only $20.00! I love this print and it's perfect for summer!
To keep those boobies healthy and pretty you will also need to know a few things. Let's start with nipple butter. Yep, butter for your nipples. Sexy, huh? In all honesty, for the new mama, do NOT forget this. The beginning of breastfeeding is always a little difficult and your body is getting used to the changes. With both boys, the first few days, my nipples cracked and bled. Nipple butter simply helps them not do that and heal them when they do. And of course is safe for babies. We got ours from earth mama angel baby and loved it. All of their products are amazing. Your nipples will eventually toughen but until then, keep them buttered up!
Another tip, do not let your boobs get engorged. This will cause a ton of pain and could also result in mastitis. Mastitis will cause flu like symptoms, you will feel a lump, pain, redness and heat. If you are engorged, simply pump enough out so you are not uncomfortable, but not too much or your body will think it needs to keep producing that amount. If you do get mastitis: hot compresses, massaging the affected area and expressing will bring that down.
I've always had an over abundance of milk but there are plenty of ways to help increase your milk supply if that is an issue. Make sure you continue to take your prenatals and eat healthy, because what your eating is what you're feeding your baby through your milk!
Thank for stopping by! Xo.
